Welcome to 6th Grade Language Arts!
This course incorporates reading, writing, oral literacy, and collaborative strategies to build the knowledge and skills necessary for students to become independent readers, writers, and thinkers. Students will respond to text, interpret and analyze text, and reflect on as well as evaluate the process used to make meaning of text. We will explore the theme of “change” this year. Students will develop a deep understanding of this concept by thinking about the different connotations associated with this idea across diverse contexts.
Text: We will be primarily utilizing Springboard consumable workbooks. We will also be reading a variety of print and non print texts including, but not limited to, novels, poems, essays, film clips, editorials, primary source documents, short stories, and biographies.
